Workers' Compensation Coordinator & Medical Secretary
Ellen has 27 years of experience as a medical secretary/assistant and has been with Dr. Melander since 2008. She has extensive knowledge in patient care, specifically workers’ compensation and return to work protocols. Ellen works directly with Workers’ Compensation adjusters and nurse case managers to ensure timely and effective communication in all Workers’ Compensation cases. Emily Cox MS, LAT, ATC
Emily is a national board certified and Missouri state licensed Athletic Trainer. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Lindenwood University in 2012. Emily continued her education while working as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the Lindenwood Lions gymnastics inaugural team and earned her Master’s of Science degree in Healthcare Administration in December 2013.
Heather Koch MAT, LAT, ATC
Certified Athletic Trainer & Physician Liason
Heather is a national board certified and Missouri state licensed Athletic Trainer. She graduated from Saint Louis University with her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2013 and her master’s degree in Athletic Training in 2014. In her free time she enjoys coaching competitive cheerleading and training to compete in fitness competitions.
Heather is the Sports Medicine Coordinator for Melander Sports Medicine. She assists Dr. Melander and Nurse Practitioner, Holly Strassner in clinic with casting, brace fitting, home exercise instruction, as well as various other tasks. Heather also provides athletic training coverage for multiple athletic teams outside of the office. She started with the practice in April 2019.
Holly Strassner, MSN, NP-C, CRNFA
Holly has been a registered nurse (RN) since 1996 and a registered nurse first assistant (RNFA) since 2002. She started working with Dr. Melander in 2008 at Mid Rivers Surgery Center and started her own surgical assistant company, Surgassist, LLC in 2009. This allowed her to provide surgical assisting services for Dr. Melander at all of his surgical locations.
In 2013 Holly became a Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) and began to pursue a master’s in nursing degree. Holly obtained a master’s in nursing as a Nurse Practitioner (NP-C) in December 2016. She has been a part of the Melander Sports Medicine team for 10 years, and has been in clinic with Dr. Melander since May 2017.
Holly currently sees patients on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Winghaven office, continues to assist with surgical procedures, and is available to provide sports physicals.
